If you are in town on the Friday before the wedding then you may be looking for somewhere to eat and have a drink. Gloucester definitely has not shortage of great places to eat, drink, or watch the waves, and there are more than a few were you can do all three.

Grabbing a Bite

  • The Gloucester House - directions from hotel
Great clam chowder with the option for a clam bake on their picnic table bestowed patio. website
  • Lobsta Land - directions from hotelThis comes highly recommended on tripadvisor, with reviews such as:

My wife and I live right around the corner from Lobtsa Land, so we frequent this place both for dinner and drinks. Hands down the best place in town for quality seafood dishes in a casual atmosphere.

With locals digging it, you can’t go wrong.

  • The Rocky Neck Art Colony - directions from hotel
Here you’ll find a number of restaurants that have great food, fun atmosphere and sit right on the inner harbor. You can check out: Madfish Grille, The Rudder, and The Studio Restaurant.

More Than Just Food

The Gloucester Schooner Festival is going on from the 4th through the 7th and includes a number of races. Not only can you see some amazing boats racing, but you can also check out the shipbuilding museum and even deck tours.

On Saturday, there will be fireworks in the inner harbor, which you may be able to catch a glimpse of if you step outside around 9PM.

For those of you sticking around until Sunday, the “Mayor’s Race” will be around 11:00AM.

Hit the beach!

Good Harbor Beach is only a little less than a mile away from the Ocean View. So if you are there early (or late) and looking to catch some rays then you are in luck. Be warned, you will have to get there early to get a parking space, but if you’re up for a nice long walk then you won’t have to worry about that or the $20 price per spot. walking directions

Room NumberWell, maybe your room isn’t quite ready yet, but you can definitely book one now - and I’d recommend doing it sooner rather than later.  All the details are on the Get A Room! page.

We’ve reserved blocks of rooms at two different hotels - The Ocean View Inn and Resort (where the ceremony and reception are) and the Gloucester Inn By The Sea.

If those aren’t your cup of tea or maybe you’re just looking for a small B&B to spend a few extra days then you can check out the map we’ve pulled together of other spots in the area.

Head on over an check out Get A Room!

Let us know if you have any other questions about Gloucester or where to stay.

Jill and I went up to Boston for Easter to visit with the family and enjoy some easter festivities. Unfortunately I was sick as a dog. We still managed to get up to Gloucester to check out a place that was recommended to us - Ocean View Inn and Resort.

The Ocean View Manor

Well, it was just amazing and we knew right away that this was the place. Ok. Jill knew right away. But after some fish and chips I agreed and we put down a deposit.

Please feel free to visit their oceanviewinnandresort.com, which has some great pictures, but still doesn’t do it justice.
